Bouvardia Flowers
A member of the Rubiaceae family, Bouvardia is named for Dr. Charles Bouvard, a former superintendent of the Jardin du Roi in Paris and a physician to Louis XIII. Bouvardias until only recently were not common flowers. Now, however, they are a florist’s favourite and are frequently used in bouquets as a very strong accent flower. If you study them closely, you find loose clusters of tubular starlet flowers fringed with leaves and carried on tall stalks.
